As a former furniture showroom, the space was transformed into a 7,420-sf branch office to meet this Bank’s growing needs along the Lakeshore. The Bank of Holland, now known as Chemical Bank wanted their new space to tie into the character of the surrounding retail community—street-level retail with Chicago loft-style residential upper level operation with in-filled modular glass style office walls.
Due to low ceilings and expected exposed mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection elements, a modified version of the loft look was introduced.
The exterior of the building required matching brick and cast stone to convey the Owner’s image, a well-recognized brand known throughout West Michigan and used at their other locations. Above the main floor, the visual changes were to blend with the residential space above and coordinated with the current resident so as to compliment and coordinate with the entire building.
