Lakewood Design/Build and Lean Thinking
The Lakewood Design/Build process offers the building owner the best of both worlds: greater participation in the construction process coupled with better cost efficiencies and faster project delivery. In addition to providing single-source responsibility over the entire process, Lakewood Design/Build leverages the concepts of "lean thinking" from the start of the project. Value is added during the planning stages by determining what is important to the project, partnering with subcontractors best suited to the project, and eliminating all processes and tasks that do not contribute value.

Traditional construction processes follow an antiquated sequence that requires detailed drawings and thorough specifications prior to discovering the actual project price on bid day. This adds time when bids are over budget, requiring rework of plans and specifications in an attempt to bring costs in line. Re-design results in delayed starts and excessive change orders, adding both time and cost to the project.
