Lakewood Construction receives Leed Certification for Paris Ridge Elementary, Caledonia Public Schools. PARIS RIDGE ELEMENTARY is the 2nd public school in Michigan to receive certified level in the LEED for Schools rating system. Some noteworthy credits earned on the journey to certification are: MAXIMIZE OPEN SPACE: 75% of the site is vegitated open space, which includes soccer fields, vegetated wetlands, rainwater infiltration swales, etc. JOINT USE OF FACILITIES: Rooms and outdoor areas are available to the community for events and meetings. ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Optimize Energy Performance - The project earned 10 points, the maximum available, for energy efficiency greater than 42% better than a ASHRAE 90.1-2004 nominally compliant building. This accomlishment is due in large part to the efficient geothermal heat pump system. CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT: The project recycled 75% of the construction waste generated on-site. INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY: The ventilation system provides 30% more outside air than required by code to support occupant health and well-being. The building was designed to meet the thermal comfort standards of ASHRAE 55-2004, and incorporates a survey protocol to verify on-going thermal comfort for the occupants. INNOVATION: The school staff integrated a green cleaning program to minimize student and cleaning staff exposure to harsh chemicals and potential allergens.
