Lakewood Wins For 19th Year
October 30th marked the night of the annual Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Awards Banquet where Lakewood Inc. received their 19th Award of Excellence for Quality Construction. These annual awards are awarded to contractors after a competitive judging by our peers for excellence in construction quality. Since 1989, Lakewood has been the consistent recipient of these awards for a variety of different types of construction projects, including pre-engineered and conventionally constructed facilities.
This year, Lakewood received an award for the clubhouse facility at The Ravines golf course. Referred to as "Arnie's Cottage", the facility is based upon the typical architecture of many cottages found upon the Lake Michigan coast. Designed by Design Plus of Grand Rapids, the cottage is wood frame construction with extensive detail inside and out. The exterior is cedar shake with exposed trim details, while the interior has custom millwork and finish details. The building contains a basement cart storage and battery charging area, while the main floor has offices, a pro shop, bar area, as well as a kitchen and dining area. An enclosed porch overlooks the scenic 18th green, and can provide seating for dining or relaxing after a round on the course.
Lakewood managed the construction of this project through the winter of 1999 – 2000, and opened the facility in early summer 2000, in time for the remainder of the 2000 golf season.
