Renovations Underway on Holland Public School's Performing Arts Center

Renovations are underway on Holland Public School's Performing Arts Center according to officials from Lakewood Inc.

The 40 year old facility is being renovated to make it handicap accessible and improve the acoustics of the space, as well as update the facility to current standards for performing arts centers. Improvements include new mechanical and electrical systems, including theatrical lighting and sound systems, and new auditorium seating. Space improvements include public toilet facilities as well as a new ticket booth and coatroom.

The $1.5 million 5,500 square foot renovation program began in August of 2002 and is scheduled to be completed in January of 2003 in time for Holland High School to host the State Regional Theatre Competition on February 8, 2003.

According to Lakewood's project manager, Jon Tilburt, the facility will be completely new with the exception of the four walls and roof of the existing building. Lakewood is providing Construction Management (CM) services for the project, while GMB Architects-Engineers of Holland is the architect of record.
