Lakewood, Inc Breaks Ground on Pentwater K-12 Facility Renovation
Pentwater, Michigan was the scene of activity on June 7, 2004 as school board members, administration, community leaders and contractors broke ground on the renovation project being undertaken this summer at the K-12 facility.
Lakewood Inc., the construction management firm handling the project on behalf of the district, led the charge of subcontractors into the project as excavation, demolition, roofing, mechanical and electrical trades people began work in earnest to complete the project in time for the fall semester.
The renovation project includes the addition of new office space, locker rooms and a weight training room along with extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades to the existing building. Coupled with cosmetic updates of paint, carpet and lockers the project will bring the building, parts of which are greater than 50 years old, into compliance with current construction standards and ADA guidelines while giving them energy efficiency and lower overall operating costs.
The project is the major portion of the $4.3 million bond issue passed by the community in late 2003. Work began on June 7, 2004, the first day after classes completed, will be completed for the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year.
