Lakewood, Inc Breaks Ground on the Manistee County Road Commission Central Facililty

Officials from the Manistee County Road Commission along with representatives from Post Associates and Lakewood Inc. were on hand Friday, June 25, 2004 to commemorate the beginning of the new Central Facility through a groundbreaking ceremony.

The new facility is located between Onekama and Bear Lake on the west side of US-31. The adjacent Onekama wastewater treatment plant will service the 20-acre complex consisting of three separate buildings – a 65,000 square foot office / maintenance / vehicle storage facility, a 4,800 square foot cold storage building, and a 15,750 square foot salt storage building, along with a separate fueling station.

The main building consists of 9,600 square feet of conventionally constructed office space, coupled to a 13,600 square foot pre-engineered maintenance wing and a 42,000 square foot pre-engineered vehicle storage wing.

The office structure will feature masonry and architectural standing seam metal roof and will have both open and private offices, conference room, work areas, toilet rooms, and other standard office amenities. The office structure will also include a walk out basement for storage.

The maintenance wing will feature two service bays with vehicle lifts, a wash bay, lube shop and will have radiant in floor heat as will the vehicle storage area. The vehicle storage area will provide interior storage and area for changing and repairing plows

Site construction and utility connections were performed by the Manistee County Road Commission. Construction of the buildings will commence in July and be completed approximately 11 months later.
