Last Piece of Structural Steel Placed on New Martha Miller Center for Global Communication

Officials from Lakewood Inc. and Hope College were on hand recently to celebrate the completion of a major milestone during the construction of the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication.

Accident free through the setting of the last piece of structural steel, the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication will be the hub of activity for the communication arts program at Hope College. The 49,100 square foot 2-story building is a major addition to the urban campus and will allow the complete Communications program to be housed within a single building.

Exterior masonry and limestone detailing is underway and scheduled for completion early winter of 2004. Interior masonry work has been completed, while interior metal studwork is ongoing. Shingle roofing is complete as is the membrane roofing. Window installation will commence soon, with building enclosure scheduled for late fall 2004. Mechanical and electrical rough in is also. Parking areas have been base coated to allow for lay down of materials.

Final completion and occupancy of the new facility is scheduled for October of 2005.
